After five years of research, sweat and tears, I finally got my pay day...

$157.73

Yup, that right folks! I got $157.73 from the California Tax Franchise Board! Don't get me wrong, I cashed the check (and already spent it! ha!) but technically they owe me another $600... wonder if I could write this off this year, as a donation or something? hmmm, now that is an idea!

Sigh, good times...

Sorry it has been too long, I know... hope you guys missed me!

Here is a good story to get me back in the swing of things... remember violence is not the answer and having your IRS agent whacked does not solve anything... seriously...

Prosecutors say Nowak wanted to hire a hit man to kill the revenue agent because he owed about $300,000 in personal income tax obligations. He also had four years' worth of outstanding corporate tax returns and stood to lose a rumored $4 million hidden in an offshore bank account, prosecutors said.

So I finally heard from the Franchise Tax Board of California... or is it the Californina Board of Tax... urg, who knows... whatever... so I heard from them and it looks like they grudgingly agree with me that I do not really owe them any money. Although the letter is literally written in some code that is almost impossible to understand... but I THINK I am getting a refund of the 2007 tax refund they took against my will but there was no check enclosed... curious...

Wonder if the tax board here in Illinois will be more fun to deal with... fingers crossed!
Sorry... I know it has been awhile... but nothing drags a blogger away from her day job like a Wesley Snipes tax update... the saga continues...

So Audit Girl is moving... to Chicago!
Lets just say that my experience with the California Tax Franchise Board was the last straw... seriously, people, you sure know how to make a process impossible/illegal! I think I am better off with the mafia...

Meanwhile, anyone got their stimulus checks yet? Anyone? Anyone? I am wondering if the California Tax Franchise Board has mine...

sigh.... is this election over yet??

``We are in challenging times. We all recognize that,'' the Arizona senator said in an interview with Bloomberg Television. ``You cannot have declining revenues and severe economic difficulties and balance the budget.''

So the State of California thought it would be fun to take my entire 2007 tax return and put it against the money they think (BUT I DO NOT) owe them for 2003. Color me SHOCKED! Seriously, it is like they are the big fat and obviuosly insecure bully on the playground and just takes everyone else's lunch money...
Sad, sad move State of California Tax Franchise Board.... do you need some therapy or Zoloft to feel a little better about yourself? I think you might....

Meanwhile, don't you worry, I will keep sending you those regular certified letters of protest... this cute pig-tailed girl on the playground is fighting back.... see ya!
Ya got 15 more days, if your taxes are not on your mind yet then well... um... good luck

Oh dear, looks like Nicholas Cage bought into that old notion of... "hey we talked about business on this Gulfstream jet, so that means you can write it off!" oh dear, it happens to the best of us!

The Internal Revenue Service says movie star Nicolas Cage used a company he owns to wrongly write off $3.3 million in personal expenses, including limos, meals, gifts, travel and his Gulfstream 1159A turbojet.

Could taxes be the answer to ridding third world countries of tobacco addiction? Taxes used for good?... nice idea...

The final prescription offered by the WHO is also the most powerful one: higher taxes. Studies show that raising tobacco taxes by a tenth may cause a 4% drop in consumption in rich countries and an 8% drop in poor ones, with tax revenue rising despite lower sales. The agency wants a 70% increase in the retail price of tobacco, which it says could prevent up to a quarter of all tobacco-related deaths worldwide. The claim is that higher taxes not only bring in revenue to fund anti-smoking efforts; they actually benefit the poor.

The IRS gods have smiled upon us...

The Senate passed an economic rescue plan Thursday that would speed $600 to $1,200 in rebates to most taxpayers and $300 checks to low-income people, including disabled veterans and the elderly.

I always find it amusing when a story uses the word "IRS" and the word "scam" in the same headline...

Well played, Wesley Snipes...

Snipes and two co-defendants, a delicensed accountant and a tax protest leader, were indicted in 2006. Snipes faced six additional counts of willful failure to file a tax return from 1999-2004, a period in which he signed two contracts for more than $10 million on sequels in the "Blade" trilogy. He was acquitted on three of those and convicted on the others. He could be sentenced to three years in prison after originally facing a possible 16 years.

So, the State of California Franchise Tax Board has contacted me again... to let me know that I still owe them money... SAY WHAT?! Is a $1000 really worth this much aggravation? Did they miss the registered mail package that I sent them with my successful appeal info? Are they too lazy to read it? It appears so...

I am placing a call to them shortly... stay tuned...
